Questions, answered.
The details behind how Ollie works. If yours isn’t here, write to support@getollieapp.com and a person will answer.
Getting started
Do I need an existing website?
No. You build your storefront in the Studio and publish it at your own address on Ollie (like yourbusiness.getollieapp.com) or on a domain you already own. Nothing reaches customers until you publish.
What kinds of businesses is Ollie for?
Rental businesses and service businesses alike: photographers, plumbers, movers, dog sitters, equipment rentals. If your customers book you and pay you, the pieces fit.
Can I build the whole thing before deciding?
Yes. Starting is free, and every edit stages behind Save. The Studio shows you the real page, including a true phone layout, and customers see none of it until you publish.
Your storefront and domain
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Ollie shows you the exact DNS records to add at your registrar: a CNAME for a subdomain like www, or an ALIAS/A record for a bare domain, with copy buttons and a “Check connection” probe so you can confirm it’s wired up. Routing works as soon as DNS points at us.
Can I change my Ollie address later?
Yes, from Site settings, with a live availability check. Links to the old address stop working once you change it, so update anything you’ve shared.
Will my site look right on phones?
The page genuinely reflows on small screens: menus collapse, cards stack, forms go single-column. The Studio lets you preview the exact phone and tablet layouts before you publish.
Can I run my own analytics?
Yes. Add your Google Tag Manager container and/or GA4 measurement ID in Site settings and Ollie renders the official snippets on your live site. Ollie also tracks where each request came from (search, social, a referral link) and shows it on the request and on your Insights page.
What images can I upload?
PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 5MB. SVG isn’t accepted, for security. Images are cropped and optimized in your browser before upload, so photos straight off a phone are fine. Everything you upload stays in your asset library until you delete it there, and deletion is blocked while an image is still in use on your site.
Bookings and requests
How do customers book?
Through the request form on your storefront. If you take dated bookings, customers pick from hourly slots computed from your business hours, minus your blackout dates and already-confirmed bookings. Only confirmed bookings block the calendar. A request alone never locks a slot.
My hours aren't simple. Can I split a day?
Yes, each weekday takes multiple open windows (9–11 and 2–5, for example), and your calendar follows your business’s timezone, which you can change on the Availability page.
What if a request comes in without a date?
You can schedule it yourself from the request, pick a slot that your public availability allows and confirm it in one step.
Can customers build their own package?
Yes. A service can be marked build-your-own, with per-day and flat line items the customer assembles on the form. The total they see live is recomputed on our side from your catalog before it’s saved, so what you get is your own prices.
Getting paid
Where does the money go?
Into your own Stripe account. Ollie connects you to Stripe when you set up payments; card payments customers make land there, and Stripe pays out to your bank on its normal schedule.
Can I take deposits?
Yes, each service carries its own deposit settings. A service can also require the deposit to book: the customer is sent to a Stripe payment page right after submitting, and you can have the booking confirm itself automatically the moment the deposit is paid.
How do customers pay the rest?
A paid deposit invoice offers a one-click balance invoice for exactly the remainder. Ollie won’t let a second balance invoice be raised for the same deposit, so nobody gets billed twice.
Do you support discount codes?
Yes, create codes with expiry, redemption limits, and restrictions to particular services. Discounts apply before deposit math, so a percentage deposit never quietly undoes a discount.
Can I charge a card on file?
When a customer pays an invoice, their card can be saved for future invoices, by Stripe, on Stripe’s systems. Ollie never sees or stores card numbers; your dashboard only ever shows the brand, last four digits, and expiry. If a saved-card charge is declined, the invoice stays open with a normal payment link as the fallback.
Do you handle delivery or travel fees?
If you serve a geographic area, set your base and radius and price each zone: free, flat, or per-mile inside and outside the area. The customer sees the fee live on the form as they type their address, and the same math is frozen onto the request and carried into invoicing, so what was quoted is what’s billed.
What does Ollie cost?
Building and running your storefront is free: no subscription, no setup fee. Ollie takes 5% of payments collected through your storefront. Separately, Stripe’s standard card fees apply to card payments. You can pass some or all of both on to the customer with one switch, so a $180 job nets you $180. No payments, nothing owed. If a customer is refunded, Ollie’s fee on that amount comes back to you; see the Refund Policy.
Contracts and messaging
Can customers sign contracts electronically?
Yes. Draft from a template, send, and your customer signs on a page of your own storefront. Signing produces a PDF with the contract text, the signature, and an audit stamp (name, email, IP, and timestamp), emailed to both of you. A signed contract can’t be edited or deleted afterward; it’s an audit record.
How does messaging work?
Every request gets a thread. Your messages reach the customer by text when their phone number is known, by email otherwise, and their ordinary replies, from their own inbox or messages app, land back in the same thread. You can also request photos; the customer gets a secure upload link and the photos attach to the thread.
Your account and your data
Am I locked in?
No. Your customers, requests, and invoices are yours, and your Stripe account is your own. It keeps working with or without Ollie.
What happens if I delete my account?
Everything goes: your storefront comes down, every file you uploaded is purged from storage, your Stripe connection and login identity are removed, and your rows are deleted from our database. It’s built to satisfy a data-deletion request, not to park your account. The exceptions are records we have to keep (payment records and signed contracts), as our Privacy Policy explains.
Is customer correspondence stored?
Yes, messages between you and your customers are stored so your threads work, as described in our Privacy Policy.
